For sale is a very clean 1983 VW GTI MK1!
The car has had a long history, not only with the VWVortex, but also VWoA. It has been used in numerous photoshoots and advertisements, from the 5 Generations of GTIs to just recently for the Golf R Drivers iPad app. The car was completely rebuilt in 1999, and has sat in a garage for most of its life. It was only driven to shows and enough to keep it from rotting into the ground. Although the restoration shows some age, it is still cleaner than 90% of the Rabbits on the road today. It also does not have the creature comforts of a Mk4, nor should it. The car was built as if it came from the factory that way and is as close to period correct as it could be.
The GTI has right around 155k on the odometer. The complete drivetrain, which probably has less than 10k since the rebuild, is from a 1988 Scirocco. The motor was disassembled and gone through with new bearings and seals. Modifications are minimal to keep a "should have come from the factory that way" look. Head has mild work to it, stock cams, adj. cam gear, full TT exhaust system, and some minor odd and ends. The interior was converted to black using a Cabriolet dash and trim, and the seats are from a European Scirocco/Pirelli GTI. The wheels are 15x7 ATS Cups with decent tires and the car is lowered on Weitec springs.
Some things that need attention: The headliner is starting to sag from heat. Like all Mk1s.
Please no low ballers, I know what the car is worth. I need to buy a house or I wouldn't even be posting this ad.
